Vape juice is one of those terms you hear and ponder on its meaning. It even gets more confusing when it’s used interchangeably with e-juice or e-liquid. Well, we just found out they all have the same meaning.
Vape juice, e-juice or e-liquid is a liquid that is heated then converted into a vapor which is then inhaled. The liquid usually contains three components;
Cannabis oil (THC, CBD or Weed Strain)
Which is a chemical extract found in the leaves of a tobacco or the cannabis plant
Propylene glycol (PG)
A food, cosmetic, and medicine additive
Vegetable glycerin (VG)
A food and cosmetic additive. It comes in different flavors and in different quantities.
“Vaping” is primarily intended for cannabis or tobacco consumers and considered a healthy alternative to smoking — because it avoids combustion.
Once opened, how long does Vape juice last?
After purchasing and opening a bottle of any cannabis e-liquid, it may last for as long as two years dependent on two main factors: the quantity, and how much of vaping you do.
With the consideration of vaping at the proper cannabis oil level and taking average vaping breaks, you can expect to Vape 2ml to 3ml of liquid per day.
Vape juice lasts for a long time because of the ingredients in it, i.e. propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG), act as natural preservatives.
What is the shelf life of a Vape juice?
How long a vape juice may last depends on several factors; how and when it was made, and the shelf life of the ingredients.
Propylene glycol (PG) has a shelf life of two years, and Vegetable Glycerin (VG), has a shelf life of four to six years. The make of the juice is also important, so you need to know its quality and safety instructions before shelving.
Buying in bulk provides an improved long-term value proposition. You also, save a lot on cost and the quantity purchased. Juice can get expensive over time, thus, it’s better to take advantage of low prices.
How long does CBD or THC Vape juice last in your system?
The amount of time CBD or THC vape juice remains in the body is dependent on the quantity used. As there is no biomarker that can currently be used to measure the effect of cannabis on a person, thus, it hard to say how long CBD or THC vape juice may last in the body.
That being said, there are factors that affect how long the vape juice may last i.e. age, diet, and genetics.
Saliva tests can detect THC 8-12hrs after consumption and it’s a common drug test used. Furthermore, the amount of THC absorbed into the bloodstream can be detected in a urine test for 30 – 45 days after consumption. Within 60 – 75 days, it would still be possible to detect amounts of THC in the blood (depend on the individual).

How long should Vape juice sit in the tank?
The Vape juice is contained in an e-liquid reservoir, most often a cartridge, pod, or vape tank, dependent on the make. The e-liquid may be in a cartridge, which is used in low-end vaporizers or in vape juice bottles, which are used for modern atomizers. Once the cartridge is used up, you can’t use it again. Hence, it is beneficial to buy the bottle.
How long an e-juice should stay in the tank depends on a number of things: the type of e-juice, the tank itself, how it is stored and used. One should often switch up the e-juice flavours, once the juice is put into the tank, you should ensure that the juice is used up and the tank cleaned thereafter. How much juice to put into the tank though, is fully dependent on how much you consume per “vape”.
The type of e-juice determines if it will last longer and prevents spoilage. There are certain e-juices that can cause your tank to crack and hence leaving them inside the tank for a long time can increase the chances of breakage.
The tanks may also affect the flavour of your e juice; different e-juices respond differently to being in a tank for a long time.
How do I properly store Vape juice?
If you want a longer shelf life for the vape juice, store in a dark, cool and dry place. Tinted glass bottles offer an advantage of storage since they help prevent light and heat from getting to your juice. If the vape juice comes in a plastic bottle — it is meant for immediate use. If you decide to switch it to a glass bottle, the expected longevity is reduced.
Light can degrade the ingredients. Another factor to consider is the exposure to air. Oxygen reacts with cannabis oil to produce cotinine, this results in a loss of THC, CBD in your e-liquid. Hence always keep your e-liquids sealed.
There are different factors that affect how long vape juice would last. Expired e-liquid might prove to be harmful. It is therefore important to check the expiration date and the manufactured date listed on each bottle before storing it. This also aids in getting the most out of each bottle purchased.
Store in a refrigerator or in a box — put that box in a drawer.
